Bangkok, Thailand – The second country-specific initiative of FORUM-ASIA and ADN on Sri Lanka was held on 31th January and 1st February in Bangkok, Thailand. In congratulating the people of Sri Lanka for the successful completion of a peaceful and democratically conducted presidential election, the participants including the key leaders and members of FORUM-ASIA and ADN as well as UN Human Rights bodies called on the government as well as the international society and Asian states to ensure full support for accountability and justice in Sri Lanka.
As a joint initiative of Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA) and Asia Democracy Network (ADN), the International Solidarity Conference was held on 31th January and 1st February in Bangkok, Thailand. It was the second country-specific initiative of FORUM-ASIA and ADN following the first meeting on Thailand which was held in Manila in October 2014. The conference aimed to discuss the result and impact of the presidential election in Sri Lanka, and role of the international community, and to come up with joint action plans for campaign and advocacy among human rights defenders in Sri Lanka and beyond Asia.
At the end of the event, the participants and organizers issued the statement to call for the accountability and justice in Sri Lanka.
