This report is an outcome document from the 2nd Future of Human Rights and Democracy held on July 27 in Bangkok, Thailand. Attended by approximately 30 participants representing 21 organisations mostly based in Bangkok, the workshop was intended to gather inputs from them in order to list the priority issues and further develop strategies for effective advocacy in the future.
The workshop allowed us to gauge the current challenges of democracy and human rights in the region and reflect on the role of ADN in answering to these challenges.
Jointly organized by the ADN and the Asian Forum for Human Rights and Development (FORUM-ASIA), the Bangkok workshop was as a continuation of the dialogue that was initiated in Gwangju, Korea in May 2015. (See the Gwangju Report.) The third and last workshop of the series on the same theme took place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on August 26 as part of the as part of the Regional Workshop of the Asian NGO Network on National Human Rights Institutions (ANNI) “NHRIs Today: On the Fence, At a Crossroads?” on 25-26 August 2015.
